Who’s behind it

I’m Raul Ortegon-Bolio, and I’ve always worked in cybersecurity. For the past ten years I’ve also audited information security and data privacy against ISO 27001, and I hold the CISSP and CEH certifications. Before that, I spent years as a Microsoft Certified Trainer, teaching official Microsoft courses on Windows Server and networking.

The moment AI won me over was simple: ChatGPT read a 60-page document for me and pulled out what mattered. I didn’t have to read all 60 pages, and I could focus on something else. I was sold, and the progress since has lived up to my excitement.

I’ve also learned two things. AI is here to make my job easier, not to do it for me. And it isn’t magic. It can make things up, so healthy scepticism and your own experience still matter.

Because I’m into tech, I sometimes assume everyone uses AI every day. Then a conversation reminds me they don’t. Most AI is sold to big companies, while plenty of it could give ordinary people time back right now. That’s why RelatableAI exists.

My promise: people first, technology second. The author Joanna Maciejewska put it best: “I want AI to do my laundry and dishes so that I can do art and writing, not for AI to do my art and writing so that I can do my laundry and dishes.” That’s the kind of AI I’ll recommend. And because of my background, I always check what a tool can see and keep before I recommend it.

I live in Germany, speak English and Spanish, and my German is catching up fast. I love a complex problem, mostly for the pleasure of making it easy enough that nobody has to solve it twice. I’m into photography, I play guitar and drums, and I’d rather watch and listen than talk.

The six modes

Every post has one mode, so you can pick your way in.

  • Discover

New AI tools and ideas, and whether they matter to you.

  • Do

Step-by-step ways to get everyday jobs done with AI.

  • Understand

How AI works, explained in plain English.

  • Test

We try AI tools on real tasks and show you what happened.

  • Create

Writing, pictures and projects you can make with AI.

  • Relate

AI and people: conversations, feelings and everyday life.

How we test

Tests show their working. Every test says what we tested (the tool, its version and the date), how we tested it, our verdict, and what we’d watch out for.

The “Tested by humans” stamp only appears once we’ve tested something ourselves, and it’s dated the day we signed it off. Until then, a post says it’s not tested yet.

Our honesty rules

  • AI outputs are real, and show the tool and the date they came from.
  • Mock-ups are labelled: “Illustrative example, not a real test.”
  • No paid placements, unless we say so clearly.
